VALENTINE'S DAY FUN

Here's a photo I snapped of Rachel a few days before Valentine's Day. I took pictures of her entire class for a craft project that we did for the V-day party (I was in charge of the party). The kids painted and then decorated photo frames which held their pre-printed 4 x 6 photo! The frames turned out really cute and Rachel said the party was fun too!

Here's Titan covered in you-know-what SNOW!!! Something we've had way toooooo much of in my opinion!

ROSES FROM RICK!

Even though I tell him not to he gets me roses for Valentine's Day. Such a great guy!

TOO CLOSE TO HOME

My thoughts and prayers are with the students, parents and community of Northern IL University today. Another senseless tragedy - so very sad!

ANOTHER GREAT QUOTE

“When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.”

SNOW FUN (OR NOT?)

Well, our school district was the ONLY ONE WHO DIDN'T CANCEL SCHOOL TODAY. However, the high schoolers got out at noon, middle schoolers at one and the poor elementary kids had to stay the entire day. I can only imagine the grief the superintendent's office got on his decision. Luckily, Rachel was staying home another day to recoop from the flu so I picked Lindsey up at noon and then headed over to pull Allie from school a few minutes early. A lot of parents were doing this and some I spoke with on the phone didn't even send their kids in the first place. I can't tell you how good it felt when everyone (except Rick) was home safe and sound! We spent the rest of the day shoveling (and shoveling) and just hanging out at home.
Lindsey took this photo of the basketball hoop in our driveway.
Way cool!
A photo of the pine tree in front of our house! It looked like someone had sprayed it with snow. Very pretty.

Lindsey getting ready to head inside after she and I shoveled the driveway for the first time. All in all, we got about 12 inches of snow. The first time we shoveled there was 8 inches and it was heavy, heavy snow with a nice layer of frozen ice underneath. We shoveled again (another 4 inches of fluffier snow) when Rick was about home otherwise he wouldn't have made it up the driveway. Lucky for us our neighbor helped us out by snowblowing the end of the driveway.
A photo of Mr. Titan who loves eating the snow! Weird, huh?

NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!

Yeah - for snow days!

STILL NOT 100%

Rachel and I are still not feeling 100%. I woke up around 4am and felt sick to my stomache. She got up to get ready for school and said she didn't feel normal. Since we are under a winter weather WARNING and school is still on, I told her to go back to bed (I think the school's will be getting out early today anyway). Another day of rest won't hurt!

ALLIE @ VOCAL CONTEST

FLU BE GONE!

Poor Miss Rachel was home sick w/ the flu yesterday and today (she got sick 8 times, she was counting). I felt so bad for her; she kept saying "why is this happening to me?". I kept telling her that it'd end eventually and that she'd feel better soon.

She's feeling better today but still has no appetite. Since she got sick at 10pm last night, I wasn't sure she could keep food/drink home so I kept her home from school. Probably a good thing; she's feeling better but still not herself.

I'm kinda hoping w/ this huge snowman coming our way that school will be cancelled tomorrow giving her one day to get some rest.

HANNAH MONTANNA CONCERT MOVIE 3D

The girls and I had a blast at the Hannah Montana Concert Movie in 3D (see the photo w/ the glasses!) We went to the 10: 30am movie at the Barrington Theater. Our driver (aka Rick) dropped us off and since it was the first movie of the day, there was NO WAIT! We got awesome seats and even enjoyed some candy and popcorn. Afterwards, we went to the Macaroni Grill for a yummy Italian lunch!

RACHEL'S BELATED B-DAY PARTY

Even though it was a little late, we celebrated Rachel's 10th birthday by having 7 of her friends over Saturday night for a b-day celebration. On the agenda was: a photo shoot, decorating a little box, games, food, gift opening, and cupcake eating. Rachel had a great time and afterwards said "that the best birthday party ever." I guess it's ok that we were a little late.
